straightedges

Hi, Kris
I like your applications, but at the moment I'm more interested in how to
buy or make a decent straightedge. My old one (wood with pyralin on both
sides) is getting old and warps too easily, and is getting skinnier from
all my attempts to plane it straight. I ordered one from Schaff and got a
4' aluminum rule, which I'll have to devise some means of holding upright,
and which is sort of heavy.

Are there still, somewhere, the good old straightedges of yore? What does
everyone else use?

Susan

(Lots of good uses, thanks.)
