Brian, turn in the direction of the second winding; that is, following =
the direction of the thicker wrap. IMHO good strings need little or no =
twisting, and I never give more than one full twist.

    When fitting wound strings, they are turned a couple of times in the =
direction of the copper winding before hooking the loop over the =
hitchpin.  Which way do you turn the double wound ones where the =
windings are in both directions?
