Hi Dale,

I did not realize that beech expanded and contracted so much.

Beech is the local hardwood, but by the time of that piano's
manufacture Broadwood should have had a better understanding of wood
behavior.  The English did some truly outstanding cabinetry and their
ships were the fastest and best in the world in the late 1700 and
early 1800s.

Well, the French did some 2 ply blocks also.  Some people never learn.
