Robin,

You might try a small dab of Protec MPL-1 (cream type lubricant) on the =
top part of the rep spring, where it fits into the V in the underside of =
the repetition lever. This both lubricates and adds a little dampening =
of the spring, and should stop the noise for you.

Others have said V/J lube also works, but that seems a little too gummy =
for me.

Has anyone run into clicking noises produced by the movement of the =
whippen spring about its mounting post on Boston grands? If so, do you =
have any suggestions, short of total replacement, for quieting them? The =
noise does NOT derive from the insertion point of the spring in the =
jack. Any advice would be much appreciated.
