Steve Pearson writes about useing bolts to repair a loose pin block on an upright. I have done this on several uprights and it has worked well. I have also bolted the bottom of the plate in the same way where the screws no longer held. I have done a couple with 3/4 plates where I have used a 3/8" by 3" steel bar to go all the way across the piano on the inside above the tunning pins. I cut it out as necessary for tunning pin clearence in the low tennor section. I felt this applied more even pressure to the pin block that washers would. John Dewey
