I find lots of antique dust, but no one seems to want it back!  :-)
Do they really WANT everything back?  But I agree with your basic
thought; the only way I would take anything with me for a collection (I
have no collection) would be if I asked the owner's permission first.  I
give them any fascinating oddities I find in the piano and throw the
rest away.
