hammer springs

  Those "repair" hammer springs can be installed more easily by cutting
off the very top of the brass rectangle.  Then the "U"-shaped portion
which remains can be slipped under the attachment screw.

  By the way, I serviced a Geo. Steck which had NO hammer springs.
Check the November 1994 issue of the Journal,  (yes Brooks, it's true.)
