Bill Garlick tells a story of prepping a piano for Carnegie Hall and spent 5 hours trimming and regulating the dampers to eliminate all noise for a big PBS concert. That night he listened and he could hear the woosh of the dampers on his stereo. He called in and talked to someone who said the pianists tech was angry someone had "butchered" the new pianos dampers. He said he barely had enough time to put new ones on. You can't win sometimes.
