If you remove the block in pieces, cut to the stretcher bass and
treble then along stretcher if needed then cut and chisel out the
remaining pieces.

You can cut the new block a little short and angle it into place, move
it left and right until you have ti aligned the way you wish you can
then glue it in place.

You can notch out a piece of the case at the treble end of the rasten
to permit the block to pass.  A very small and hidden repair of the
case after securing the block.

This is easier, faster, and just as secure as the original even if it
is 1/4" shorter.

Since the block is sloped you may wish to replicate that slope by
placing a shim under one side of the block and passing it through a
surface plainer before cutting the plank.
