After reading this line of discussion the last several days, I finally
had to put in my two cents. I happen to be one of those people who work
almost exclusively on those "old uprights" or "old grands" that are on
their last legs. I've "revived" many a piano to the delight of
low-income owners who couldn't be more thrilled their child can take
piano lessons. My main profession is as a piano teacher, piano tuning
is my 2nd trade. I don't tune many Steinways grands, and that's fine
with me. About 75% of the pianos I service would probably be called PSOs
on this board, but that's what the average Joe off the street can afford
around here. I like the challenge of fixing these pianos.

Everyone has their own little niche to fill in this business. There's
plenty of room for all our areas of interest without having to criticize
each other.
