Old Uprights...one economic example

Hi,

I thought I'd add my 2 cents in the discussion of rebuilding old
uprights with a current example from our shop.

We have in process an old Steif (sp?) upright, which someone bought,
with our shop doing a list of work which includes:

Regluing loose ribs, new bass bridge, new hammers, new dampers, repair
of a half dozen ivories, polish the hardware, put on a new set of
casters, tune to pitch, and complete action regulation. The price tag
is about $2500. It's nothing special to look at, but it has a nice
sound and a reasonable pinblock.

Just thought I'd share an example from this neck of the woods.

Best to you all,

Brian Trout
