I was able to get RCT to noteswitch all 87 notes in as little as
57 seconds with no errors. I used my Mac 2400 running
at 180mHz. In the middle of the piano, RCT switches
about 3-4 notes per second. Faster computer will be faster.
FYI, if you press your computer's arrow keys, RCT will noteswitch
manually. Holding the note-up arrow key down,
RCT switches from A0 to C8 in 3 (yes, that's three) seconds.
IOW, RCT switches notes about as fast your cursor moves
through text of, for example, an email msg. I use this feature
all the time to switch from one note to another no matter how far away.
To auto-switch to a note a half octave or less away, I just play a
chromatic run and
RCT's NoteSwitcher follows me along like a little dog.
Jim C. asked if we had wired thumbswitches for RCT. Yes
we do. I used one while tuning pianos at last year's NAMM
show. I thought I might need it because I would be tuning in
a room with 2 other tuners, all 3 of us tuning at the same
time. But in fact, RCT's filters work so well and Dean has
done such a great job making NoteSwitcher very smart that I didn't need
it. In other words, even with all those non-Mitch notes flying around,
RCT's NoteSwitcher still worked great almost all the time.
In other words, a wired thumbswitch is available for RCT
but totally unnecessary.
