First spinet piano

Friends:

Here's a little information from "The Music Trades" magazine, September
1998, p. 80 (not a direct quote): The tiny Haddorf Piano Company showed
the first 36" spinet with a drop action at the 1935 NAMM show. It
created a sensation and the company was swamped with orders. Shortly
thereafter the Winter Company offered the Musette. We were on our way!

Incidentally, the only spinet pianos currently in production, if the
Ancott Music Directory has them all listed, is Wurlitzer (Baldwin).
