I don't know where I heard or read it, but somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to remember that: The pitch of A435 will be adopted as the standard pitch except for the fact that the company making the "bells" tuned them to A440. And as most orchestra's had them, it was easer and more cost effective to adopt A440 than replace all the "bells". The "bells" were made to A440 to stand out over A435. Much as some of our artists want the piano tuned to A442. True or False ??? This has answered most of my questions. If I may ask one more question. Was there a reason A-440 was decided on as the standard pitch? I guess they could have decided on any number, but why A-440? Thanks, Jim Turner
