It appears you have two choices with the auxiallary jack spring: 1} remove the springs or 2} if you still have them, remove the catchers from the old butts and switch them with the ones on the new butts which don't have the extra length to accomodate the spring. The latter has been my choice and works. As far as the row of hammer return springs on the rail - the rail should be removeable with other action parts still on. You may have to remove a few damper levers to access spring rail screws {doubtful} but many if not most uprights permit the process. Disconnect the rail and fish it out the end of the action, replace the springs and return CAREFULLY . It's not that hard and is a technique you should have at your disposal anyway. Gary Ford
