I only had a little while to play with the Fairchild pickup as I was borrowing it from Zen. In the center of the piano where pickup is "easy", it seems that the pickup worked over many notes from just one position. Only in the difficult areas (extreme treble or bass) did I reposition the pickup on every note (or two notes). I forgot to try to determine the maximum pickup range from one position.
