In a message dated 98-11-12 19:39:31 EST, you write: << The first Baldwin 6000 I ever tuned was just last week in a Pennsylvania federal prison chapel. Anyone else have "tuning in prison" stories they would like to tell? >> I tuned the piano in the chapel of the City of St. Louis Jail once, about 15 years ago. Unlike Clyde's experience, no one asked what I had in my bag of tools, nor did they exray me. A woman escorted me through the halls while the prisoners were walking single file down to the mess hall. Once I got in the chapel, I was left by myself, but the door to the chapel was not locked. I was told that when I was done, I was to go back to the entrance, on my own. I don't rmember much about the piano, but while I was tuning, the door opened, and an inmate walked in and asked me what I was doing. Fortunately he just stayed at the door, and left after watching me for about 5 minutes. Not exactly a pleasant experience, to say the least. When I got done, I packed up my tools, and walked back to the entrance, carrying my bag of tools. I can't rembmer if I was scared. I just kept a look out for the guards. I figured as long as they were around, I would be safe. Willem Blees
