Is it maybe possible to use some of the _ 240 holes that are pre- drilled? Cyrillus Yes it is possible, but they are larger and errors are easier to commit. Tiny holes are easy to hide as well. You may see some pianos that have holes drilled in the plate rim the size of tuning pins. You can use these holes or drill your own to fit the pins you have in the shop, but I prefer drilling the tiny holes in the corners of the plate and pinblock. By measuring from these holes to the stretcher and to the rim and writing the results on the keybed it is possible to fit a new block to the plate, drill the holes into the new block from the plate, lay out cutting lines with the proper angles derived from the measurements from the old block holes, cut the block, drop it into the case and the plate will find it's own location. Easy, simple, elegant and functional. Newton
