Dale,

I don't believe there is finish on either side of the keybed.

Having read all the responses about this piano, I am anxious to get back to
it and have a real good look.  I hope to do this soon.  Armed with the
list's lessons, I think I will find the problem quickly.  I intend to post
what I discover.
