Jim, Et Al: I have got one better than that. I do an action reconditioning service for visually impaired piano tuners. A colleague in Newcastle England sent one of his top music teachers grand action to me through the post. We use parcel force which is part of the Royal mail we use these because they use consignment numbers so things don't get lost. It arrived here ok. I did my stuff, repacked it up, parcel force picked it up, like they all ways do, but this time they didn't deliver it. It was their Guaranteed 48 hour delivery scheme. Three days later and a phone call from a very worried Darren , no action..!!!. I phone parcel force and apparently they had lost it. But they assured me that it would turn up in a week and if it did not I could clam the insurance £500. Big deal Well mass panic set in after three weeks Darren and myself had decided that it was lost forever. We were going to have to split the cost of a retro fit of a new action. He was debating whether or not to tell the customer or just fit a new action in and hope she wouldn't notice. I mentioned the small problem of the ivories just as a starter. Another week past and I was just about to order a new action when I got a phone call from Darren telling me the action had turned up not a bit of damage and a little note from the U.S. postal service saying try Newcastle U.K. for the address. I must have aged ten years. BTW they sent us the £500 as they still think it is lost. in 15 years they have lost 2 and both turned up later, one was just last Feb but it was an empty box. Barrie.
