Barrie, I've always started at note 88 and strip-muted down to the bass, because I am right-handed and can control how much mute goes between the strings by holding back-tension with my left as I push the felt between the strings with the right. When you get to the tenor break on uprights you can form the final loop of the treble by pushing the felt into place under the action standard from the tenor section and the first string of the tenor by pushing from the treble section while holding the damper back with your left index finger.
