Gina,
	It's likely that a custoemr with one of these beauties
doesn't want to foot the bill for a new set of bass strings so I
would suggest that ou try twisting one or two strings in the
direction of the winding to see if that livens them up a bit.  I
usually don't charge for this as I consider it experimental untill I
know it has worked on those one or two.  I then charge a fee high
enough to compensate me for a job I don't particularly enjoy but low
enough to not chase away the customer.  You could be a hero on this
one.
