old pianos

Tuned a "Beethoven" piano # 143304 yesterday.  My atlas lists the maker,
but no yearly list of serial numbers.  Anybody have any information on this
make, or year or origin?

  Where can I get background information on these old piano companies?  I
service a huge number of offbrand pianos in this area, most around the turn
of the century.  It would be interesting to know the stories of these early
piano makers, but I don't know where to look.
