The cauls are important in the installation along with the Key Bushing Iron. The KBI helps in removing the old bushings also. I have a jpg of a caul press which makes nice corners on the cloth in the mortise, I can send it if you like. If you are planning on doing key bushings, get it. It makes it so much easier.
