Hi youall,
In the old days, 1950's, if you were stopped at a fire scene you could be
stopped and deputized to fight the fire. Now because of liability if one
were injured and advanced knowledge, equipment etc. one would be mostly in
the way of fire fighting pros 
.
Just my humble opine.
