Right, The damper assembly is on top, and those wires lift the dampers >how does the hammer pivot? On the back, attached to the key bed there is an assembly which acts as = the escape system, it is attached to the keybed by a very thin sheet of wood which allows them to bounce from back to front. The escape system is on = top and is shaped in such a way that at rest it slides on top of the lower = part that you see at the bottom of the hammer, when you press the key the = hammer will lift until it slides out. As i dont have the precise vocabulary I = am sending you a drawing I hope you understand it. The braking assembly is mounted on a transversal piece of wood and stops the hammer at a = shoulder. After seeing the action, I feel this is not even a piano, it seems to be what they used to call Forte Piano. > >If the tuning pins are tigh, what needs to be restored? >Especially if no one plays it? ? Wrong, my clients daughter is taking piano lessons on this piano !!! I proposed them to clean all the piano, it has a lot of rust on the = tunning pins and strings, the keys in the centre and front they used leather = instead of felt, but it is so old that is wrinkled and cracked so it has a lot = of side play in the keyboard. Somewhere in time someone took the piano and VARNISHED IT !!.. The only thing that bothers me is that when I see a piano like this one, = and the people accepts it, I like to replace everithyng with original parts = or at least use a technique similar to the one used on those days, that is = why, if I can find out when was the piano made, then I can use a simmilar procedure to repair it. > >Jon Page > > ------=_NextPart_001_004B_01BDA46B.FB5A58A0 An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
