Chuck The Boston Verticals I've seen at the local Steinway dealer are quite nice. They are Steinway designed but Kawai built. I have tuned 4 to date. All have been typical Kawai fit and finish, with very close tolerances, but with a "Steinway sound." If they hold true to form (as a Kawai), they should be a good, durable work horse piano for a professional musician. Kawais in this part of the midwest have been holding up well to the constant weather swings we typically experience, and I do not hear other techs in the area complaining about them. Several Kawais I service are in high schools-the proving grounds for any product-and seem to be taking the abuse as well as or better than the Baldwins,Yamahas, Everetts, Sohmers. Before you buy, ask the dealer if you can tune it and inspect the action etc. You'll form an opinion and quite possibly a bond with the piano. Good Luck! I'd like to see other responses from the list to round out our education. Paul Chick RPT Plainview MN
