They have had success exterminating termites in Cuba using nitrogen.
Enclose the instrument in a plastic bag sealed with hot melt glue, burn
iron filings to extract oxygen, humidity the air and release nitrogen
into the bag. Lack of oxygen kills larvae, eggs and adults.
Alternatively you can place the object in a freezer. Cold will kill
them also.
