As I recall from 30 years ago in chemistry class, if you are going to dilute a strong solution with water, be sure to add the acid to the water, not the other way around. Sometimes there is heat produced when mixing the two solutions together, and if you pour water into a strong acid (or was it alkali?) it could explode. Paul McCloud, RPT San Diego, CA
