Hello Friends, Don't pick a fight with the 1098! Use a different technique with little or no over compensation/overpull/countermovement on tuning pins. Tune unisons as you go. When a note gives trouble, skip it and repair it later when you reach the next check test using that note. Do not over-wrench tuning pins and strings trying to get perfection, this will only make it worse. Let the steel rest awhile! Keep motions to an absolute minimum. Tune fast as possible in mid-range and bass, budget twice as much time for the upper treble. Worry less about what feels like tuning pin bend and twist. Amazingly you will find the tuning to be quite stable and last much longer than many other simular sized pianos, even though it doesn't seem very solid while tuning. -Mike Jorgensen
