Hi to all. . . I am reposting this query to make sure everyone has a chance to see it. Forgive me for taking up your space with non-technical issues. I have found a Petrof model IV (5'9 grand) in the Philidelphia area that I am very impressed with. I consider the tone to be very clear and lovely, and the touch to be pretty nice. But I've heard many stories concerning quality control of Petrofs. I've been through several unsatisfactory pianos over the years (due to my own carelessness), and would like my next piano to be the antidote to my previous mistakes. So I'd like to pay a technician with at least 10 years experience (preferably a musician as well) to do a very thorough and honest evaluation of the instrument, including a complete tuning and testing of pin torque, examination of all action parts, bridge pinning, hardware, etc. . . the works. This is a big decision for me, and I also happen to live an hour and a half from the dealer, so I consider this a must. If there is someone in the Philly area who's a willing and OBJECTIVE party, I'd appreciate your help. Feel free to e-mail me for my phone number. Also if anyone has any opinions on the Petrof grands (esp. the model IV), I'd appreciate them sharing them with me. Thanks!!
