responding

I hope you fellows don't mean that responding to market pressure means the
same thing that it meant to Aeolian-American. They moved their
manufacturing of verticals from East Rochester to Memphis to get lower
costs. The Steck "N" became the Steck "O" and Chickering became a cheap
spinet as well as a cheap case on the vertical. The Mason & Hamlins became
just another piano and the Knabes, well on and on.
I feel the industry must lead, not follow. There is plenty room for the
makers to educate the consumers , not go along with thinking that everyone
wants cheapness. When I recommend Yamaha, Kawai, Baldwin, Walters, etc, I
don't mention price but I do mention that they should" buy their last piano
first".
