Dear list,
MDF is still particleboard.  It may be more finely ground up, heavier, and
more stable but it is just a higher refinement of particleboard.  What we
do know is that it dulls edges faster.  Since I am cheap and hate to pay to
resharpen tools this is one reason I do not like the stuff.  Come to think
of it I don't like polyester finishes either, so there.
