Foote rattles

     Ed,

    I agree with Don Mannino, who thinks your noise is an object not a 
crack.
    If you can't find anything on the soundboard, you might want to look 
in strange places too. A few years ago I traced a rattle on a Kohler & 
Campbell grand (SKG-600) to a small metal bar that had slipped between 
the stretcher and the plate. It was a string spacing tool, obviously from 
a factory worker on the Korean assembly line. 
     I still have that string spacing tool and use it all the time.
