Pitch Raising

Dear list,
Have any studies been done to see how long it takes a string that has
been pulled sharp, to fall in pitch to a point of stabilization? I
realize that gauge and length have a part in this too. Since it's usual
procedure to pull the strings sharp (if the piano's condition will allow)
and then give a fine tuning, has anyone tried the following method. Pull
each string sharp then immediatly put it back around proper pitch without a
waiting period. I'm just curious if a quick stretch of each string with no
waiting period would have near the same effect as waiting for it to
stabilize on its own.
     Thanks to all
