Dear list, Have any studies been done to see how long it takes a string that has been pulled sharp, to fall in pitch to a point of stabilization? I realize that gauge and length have a part in this too. Since it's usual procedure to pull the strings sharp (if the piano's condition will allow) and then give a fine tuning, has anyone tried the following method. Pull each string sharp then immediatly put it back around proper pitch without a waiting period. I'm just curious if a quick stretch of each string with no waiting period would have near the same effect as waiting for it to stabilize on its own. Thanks to all Bob Sadowski RPT Erie, PA.
