Yes... it's quite definitly soapstone.  As a test you can scrape a little
off with a fingernail and rub it between your thumb and a finger. If it's
soapstone it will scrape easily and will be very slippery. There ARE
similar things which aren't soapstone or perhaps a very poor quality of it,
though. If you scape a bit of it and rub it between your fingers you'll
know as it feels a bit greasy and not very slippery.

I agree, but it's also expensive, can be messy, is more difficult to carry
around and is harder to obtain. For those who don't want to go to the
trouble it's an alternative, especially over talc, which I won't use at all
anymore.
