steinway verdegris is killing me (a little long) -Reply

I did this using protek and repinning with Yamaha center pins
available from Schaff.  I have done three pianos this way, the first
one five years ago, and can say that it hasn't come back yet.  These
pianos were moderately affected by the verdigris, and not as bad as
some I've seen.  I think Kent Swafford has a good point as to the
degree of verdigree determining the outcome of such fixes.

Just out of curiosity, after trying to remove gunk, has anyone tried
repinning with nickel-plated center pins? Seems that if the brass were
not
in contact with the offending cloth and parafin it might slow down the
creeping green crud.
