Dampp Chaser, Humidity

Dear Mr. Liester,

If the humidity in the room is between 40 and 50% all year then the
DamppChaser may be unneccasary, but it will help stabilize the tuning
and regulation of the piano. The technician lowered to rods to help
prevent over drying the of wood.

If you notice a difference in the tuning of the two pianos during the
seasonal changes then you might consider having a system installed in
the B.

If the rods are indeed on all the time then you might consdier
unplugging one rod.

The humidistat alternates between the two, dehumidifier and humidifier.
There is no off for the whole system without unplugting it.

If you are near water then the system is essential to prevent over
humidifying all the wood and the action.

COnsult with your technician and express your concerns. There should be
a way to smooth out the system.

I have had a system installed in my piano from day one, some twenty five
years ago and I am most pleased that I have to tune it so rarely. Shoe
makers kids and all.
