>From the 11-8-97 Kansas City Star: "Pricey Piano: London -- An American art institute paid $1.2 million Friday to buy a lavish Steinway Victorian piano at an auction. Christie's said the winning bid was made by the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass. The auction house said it was the highest price ever paid for a piano. It was sold by a family trust that was not identified." One assumes that this is a one-of-a-kind instrument such as one in an art-case, but it would be great to know the story for certain.
