Ted, Now that you rubbed your finger on the metalic finish, touch-up that section and spray a clear overcoat. Your finger-mark will probably discolor down the line, the bronzing powder is made from copper. It will oxidize even under a clear coat, so respray/touch-up. Semigloss does not have the appeal of a gloss finish for a plate. I have sprayed many and gloss is the way to go. In fact once the gold is sprayed, don't touch the plate until the clear coat is on. This includes lettering. The dust you feel is partly overspray, dust and metallic residue. Use a clean, dry rag to wipe it off and be _careful_ not to press hard to produce streaks.
