Nope, its not the jack.  I checked that.  Its the wippen/capstan contact
point that is making the noise. let-off, drop, and aftertouch are actually
fairly reasonable.

I haven't gone much deeper in checking the rest of the action set-up.  I
will do that when I return to do my report.  However, I agree with you that
leverage is probably not the problem - I'm just not willing to rule it out
until I have a closer look...
