Dear Wally -- >2. When moving the piano away from the wall, I scratched it with my belt >buckle. Remedy? Look sloppy and leave my shirttail out? Don't wear a belt? Wear a sweater? Find a soft belt buckle?=20 >3. My tuning hammer fell off the pin and slightly dented the right edge of >the case. Remedy? It happens. I try to snatch it. Doesn't happen often, thank heavens. One thing you didn't mention is bench damage. I always ask for a bath towel if the bench doesn't have a fabric or vinyl cover. More comfortable, you won't leave sitzmarks if the day is hot and the bench is encrusted with old wax, and you can leave tools on the bench without risk. >In NONE of these cases did I mention it to the owner. Would you? >Salud! >Wally I always fess up, try to fix it myself if I can, offer to hire someone else if I can't. No one has every asked me to hire someone else. Aside from any ethical comfort it provides, I think it is the best damage control measure you can make. Otherwise, you are leaving a small piece of dynamite that may ignite at some unknown time in the future, with unknown consequences. Sant=E9! Susan Susan Kline, R.P.T.=20 skline@proaxis.com P.O.
