Soft pedal spring

Marcel,

You asked about weakening the resistance of a soft pedal on a Baldwin Grand.
I would first clean the spring and lubricate it ( and the keybed frame wear
area ).
Then make sure the KeyBed is clean and well lubricated at wear points, as
well
as keybed frame.  Bed the keybed frame and then move to the pedals checking
and lubricating where necessary.  (leather can be replaced and/or Teflon
powder added)  After checking and lubricating every possible point you should
have
improved your problem.  Weakening the spring may cause problems in the
keybed returning slowly.
