Sealed pianos

Dear Wally, and List -

I don't know about "all" Everett studios having the lid secured by
Allen-head screws from the back. But a couple decades ago, when Everett and
I were both in Michigan, they were all that way. When I had several of them
on my beat I used to carry the correct wrench. In this area I haven't
encountered any yet, so I no longer keep the wrench in my kit. One of my
regular screw drivers for slotted screws just happens to be the right size to
fit into the socket and works just fine for emergencies. (Bet you carry that
size, too.) Only drawback is that I have to move the piano out from the wall
a few inches to have room for the longer screw driver.

"Drawback" - didn't the old Hammond organs have drawbacks? :-)

BTW, I think the Allen-head screws are a pretty good idea for school pianos.
I never encountered an action vandalism problem with a piano so equipped.
