Pin driving fluid/rosin

I read on another digest the enthusiastic support
of one tech to use Pintite as a pin driving fluid, even
on new blocks. His claim is that it stabalizes the wood
around the pin and for the past 30 years has had great
success. For the past 25 years I have only used
powdered rosin on the pin before driving with great success.

What are some opinions on these two methods
and perhaps pin driving fluid in general.
