Ken,

I can't see damage being done by soft objects (softer than the steel wire or
copper) against the strings, nor for that matter a light-weight person on top
of the "prop" if the lid had a reinforcement over it to transfer the weight
into the rim (and not the hinge, for example).  But I'm not sure I understand
the part about converting it into a lightweight puppet, do you?
