Folks, Eric has clearly had WAY too many of these things to do! I will try the soldering-tip trick on the next set of 'softies' I run into (Thanks Eric!). Would add one suggestion to his; When clamping the lifter-wire in the Vise-Grips to remove the old elbow, grab it with the jaws at the top of what's left of the 'dead' elbow. Thus when you zip the new elbow on it will stop at the jaws of the pliers, and be fairly close to the correct adjustment for the piano (... depends on the instrument, but usually lessens the amount of regulation required once they go back in). Have fun! Jeffrey T. Hickey, RPT Oregon Coast Piano Services TunerJeff @ aol.com ps- Hey Eric! Are you gonna share a post on your experiences at Yamaha's 'Little Red Schoolhouse' with us? Hmmmmm????
