Young Chang action noise

Dave,

If the noise is on the jack returning, (depress the jack tender with
a finger, and abruptly release it, whack!), the felt buttons on the
jack rest position adjuster are too hard. You can either 1) replace
them with better quality felt buttons, or 2) get a long needle, work
it into the felt buttons through the repetition lever window from
above, and try to soften the felt enough to eliminate the noise.
Also, check the felt button under the bottom of the repetition lever
height adjusting screw. I've had this happen on Samicks, and coupled
with knuckle problems, (which have been covered by other list
members), make the action sound more like an Underwood typewriter
than a piano! You'll have to re-regulate the jack position if you
modify, voice or change the felt button.

Good Luck!
