While I used to do that too I now suggest that you employ the use of a propane torch. Heat the rod for a few seconds and (poof) . It will fall off in your hand. I definately suggest that you do this out of the piano but I'm sure if your REAL CAREFUL, it could be done painfully doubled over with your head stuck inside the bowels. I'm not sure why you'd want to though. One last thing ... guess where I learned about using propane to install new elbows.?! Yep!! You guessed it!!! THIS LIST!!!!!!!!!
