Plate Bolts

Since the plates are suspended, in the process of rebuilding;
would you make several wooden height presses to maintain
plate height when reinstalling the plate?
Height presses would be a lengths of wood which would be
trimmed flush with the top of the rim and then clamped to
hold the plate down while threading bolts in.
Also, would you use wedges under the plate if lift were needed?

I have not rebuilt a newer Baldwin. I'm sure this info will be of
help to many.

Thanks,
